John Duffin's Transformer

This car started out as an un-finished Project purchased from another club member in
December 1994. It is believed to be the first kit sold by Transformer cars (now Hawk
Cars), ordered after viewing the original prototype at the Stoneleigh Show in 1986.
The car was completed and made it onto the road in February 1997. The current
specification is fairly standard comprising Stradale body, Standard 2.0l Lancia Twin Cam
with Twin 45's , "Road" suspension with anti-roll bars, uprated front arms, but
the rear is still on a Beta subframe with fabricated "HPR" rear arms and hub
carriers.
With many replicas being painted in either Alitalia or Chardonnet colours, It was
decided UK representation was needed. A trip to the Chequered Flag Garage yielded Graham
Warner's phone number and he helped enormously by lending his personal photographic
archive. The main problem in working up the scheme was that the car never seemed to run in
the same colours twice and sometimes they changed during an event!
Eventually the paintwork was completed, and the photo was taken in March 1997 at the
Start Ramp of the 1997 Mintex Rally, 21 years to the day when the original car won it's
first International Rally in the UK. .
